Accounting Analyst

About the role
The Accounting Analyst position will be responsible for various accounting functions, primarily related to fixed assets and operating expenditures to support the application of GAAP during the monthly close, reconciliation process, and financial audits. This role will work directly with an Accounting Manager. The position will also be responsible for providing adaptable assistance across the finance department to support the business community and various needs within the organization. This role will allow an individual to utilize their accounting skills in a stimulating environment while gaining great experience and exposure across the finance team.

The impact you can have

  • Assist with the coordination of the month-end close process and perform month-end closing activities such as preparing reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Perform analysis and calculations of prepaid expenses, operating accruals and fixed assets to ensure their compliance with GAAP standards.
  • Work closely with members of the finance and business teams to provide timely support.
  • Assist with the annual audit process with the independent auditors.

You’ll bring to the role

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum 2-3 years accounting experience, preferably in public accounting  
  • CPA certification a plus
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and the ability to research guidance to determine proper accounting treatment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interact with numerous personality types and various levels of management.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently and to keep manager informed of issues.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP Systems (Oracle and SAP) and proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word. Aptitude for learning new systems.
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines and balance workload effectively.

This position works onsite in our Talbots home office at our Hingham (MA) location.
