About the role
This position is responsible for the design, development, and concept of T by Talbots from concept through tech packing in partnership with the Design Director, Technical Design, and Sourcing. The core categories of internal design and development are loungewear, Active, and cut & sew knitwear.
The impact you can have
Research global, domestic and competitive markets to identify new trends, fabrics, and techniques helping to build out seasonal concept and color
Responsible for technical package process, to include drawings, measurements and design detail specifications and prepare for hand off to Technical Design
Maintain thorough knowledge of the line (silhouettes, yarns/fabrics and design details) and is responsible for tracking changes/additions
Own and maintain specification sheets, trim sheets, and pitch sheets
Oversee the creation of Design Presentation Boards
Research competitive market and present results and ideas
Key partners include Merchandising, Product Development/Sourcing, Technical Design, and Vendors
You’ll bring to the role
Knowledge and experience at a level normally acquired through the completion of a Bachelor’s degree
8+ years of related experience. Knowledge of Activewear a must.
Independent, self-motivated, and detail-oriented
Superior sketching ability with strong Illustrator skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Must be highly organized
Able to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced office environment
Must be highly collaborative in a team environment
Strong work ethic
Proficient with computer programs including Photoshop, Illustrator, and Microsoft Office, PLM.
Experience using Microsoft Teams and Miro boards a plus.

The target salary range for this role is: $90,000 - $100,000

On-site: This position works on-site at least 4 days per week consistent with the needs of the business at our Talbots office location in New York, NY.
