Heather T., Senior Director of Merchandise Planning, has been with Talbots since 2019, where she has experienced a rewarding journey. Read on as Heather shares how volunteering can help build team connections.
What inspired you to start volunteering?
Living in Hong Kong at a young age gave me an appreciation for how a lot of people live. I believe that the more you have, the more you should be giving back.
Is there a particular cause you are passionate about?
I'm passionate about any organization that helps feed people. I also like to be active as a volunteer, so I have enjoyed working with organizations like Habitat for Humanity.

Who or what has been your biggest inspiration with your volunteer journey?
Seeing the people that run these organizations. There is such passion in the volunteer community that it's hard not to get inspired.
How do you think volunteering and giving back to the community contributes to the overall success of Talbots?
As a leader, it is great to see a team that works together daily go out of their comfort zone and work together in a different capacity. I personally think it's the best type of team building exercise.
