Wondering how you can stand out in your interview for an internship at KnitWell Group? Here are some top tips from our recruiters to help you feel more prepared and confident.

1. Reflect and prepare

  • Reflect on the internship opportunity: Review the internship job description and think about how this opportunity aligns to your skills and goals. Brainstorm specific examples you can share about how your experiences and skills will help you succeed in the position. Those examples could come from other internships, part-time jobs, class projects, clubs, or volunteer experiences.
  • Double check you meet key internship requirements:

          • Program duration: You'll need to be available for the entire internship program. You can find the program dates on the job description.
          • Commutable distance: Since KnitWell's internship program operates in a hybrid model, students must live within a commutable distance to the office. Our recruiters can provide information about summer housing options to help you meet this requirement, but you will be responsible for securing your own housing.
          • Graduation year: Internships are open to rising juniors and seniors in college pursuing a Bachelor's degree. Don't be surprised if our recruiters ask to confirm your graduation date.
  • Do your homework on the company: Tap into as many resources as you can, such as KnitWell's website, LinkedIn channels, or current associates. Be ready to specifically answer why you're interested in the brand you applied to.
  • Prepare your answers: Prepare the stories and examples that will best demonstrate how your past behaviors could show up in the future. Recruiters want to hear how your unique experiences make you a great match for the internship. Be ready to:

            • Share examples of how you’ve collaborated with others.
            • Explain how you manage deadlines, priorities, and responsibilities.
            • Talk about your experiences in terms of what you did and what you learned.
  • Brainstorm questions: Come prepared with questions about the position, team, or anything else you are genuinely curious about. This shows that you're eager to learn and take initiative.

2. Prepare your setup

Interviews for internship positions are typically conducted virtually through a Teams video call.
  • Prepare your space: Set up your environment, so the call is quiet and free of distractions. Make sure you are well-lit and your background is not distracting.
  • Test your technology: To set yourself up for success, we suggest downloading Microsoft Teams and testing your video and audio ahead of your virtual interview. Make sure your WiFi connection is working as expected.
  • Be punctual: Give yourself a little extra time to login early to the virtual call so you can get settled and troubleshoot potential issues before the interview.

3. Be present and demonstrate your enthusiasm

  • Make your best impression: We embrace a business casual dress code. Bring your best professional self.
  • Be present and engaged: Showing up with enthusiasm and energy will help you shine. Make sure to turn off any distractions for the interview.

4. Follow up and send thank you notes

Following up after the interview with a thoughtful thank you message isn't just polite; it's another way to stand out. It reinforces your professionalism, shows genuine appreciation, and leaves a positive impression that can help set you apart from other candidates.
